The National Board of Examination, New Delhi has granted accreditation to this institution to train DNB Students in OBGYN Speciality from 2001 and in Paediatric Medicine and is continuing successfully for the past 20 years. The intake of candidates is as below:

Obst & Gyn - Post MBBS - 3 Nos.
Obst & Gyn - Post Diploma - 3 Nos.
Paediatrics – Post MBBS - 2 Nos.
Paediatrics – Post Diploma - 2 Nos.

The programme is running successfully under the guidance of the Medical Superintendent and dedicated faculties. Totally 14 faculty members of OG department, 7 faculty members of Paediatric Department and 10 from allied subjects are involved in the teaching programme.

On admission to the DNB programme, orientation classes are held so that the candidates are aware of routine protocols of patient management in the hospital.

In Obstetrics & Gynaecology, hands on training is given on conduct of normal and complicated vaginal delivery, episiotomy suturing, instrumental deliveries, various operative procedures in Obstetrics an Gynaecology and basic knowledge regarding Ultrasonography and Hysterosalpingography is imparted by regular training over the residency period.

Training in allied subjects like pediatrics, anaesthesia, dermatology, surgery and urology is given by posting the candidates in the respective departments.

Managing Obstetrical and Gynecological and Paediatric emergencies and work up of a medico-legal issue is well taught and candidates become proficient in dealing with such conditions by the end of their training.

Candidates are trained in operative procedures in the beginning by assisting the faculties and then over a period of time, doing independently under supervision.

Paediatric Medicine Department has a dedicated Pediatric ICU, HDU, SNCU, 24x7 Pediatric Emergency. Students are posted in all the areas by rotation and bedside skills are taught. Regular teaching schedule, CME, OSCE, Case presentations and periodic tests are conducted.

The knowledge of the candidates is assessed by regular tests and also by the yearly Formative Assessment test by National Board of Examination.

Candidates maintain a log book in which the work done by them is recorded and is counter checked and duly signed by faculty under whose guidance it is done.

Candidates are given research projects under the guidance of individual faculty to complete their thesis which is mandatory for the programme. The research projects are cleared by the scientific and ethical committee of the institute.

Various CME programmes are conducted in the parent subject as well as in allied subjects. Candidates are encouraged to present original articles, research paper in the CMEs and conferences at the State and National levels.
