Standard Operating Procedures - Radiology Department
Registration
- There is a spacious well ventilated waiting area which includes all the necessary signage's, Patients who attend RGGW&CH scan antenatal and Gynecological complaint there patients may be coming from OPD and inpatients for the first time or follow up.
- New patients from the OPD (O&G scan).
- For all antenatal OPD patients PNDT form is filled by social workers and nursing officers, get consent from the patients, sent to scan room
Gynaec
- If the income of the patient if above Rupees 1000 instruct the patients to pay amount for scan. Then, patients return to scan room with receipts for the scan.
Radiology Scan
- Radiologist do for scan - All antenatal, gynec, pediatric cases refer form whole hospital (inpatient, outpatients causality and from all wards).
- Bedside radiology scan also done for pediatric and O&G emergency cases
- Radiologist report given for x-ray, HSG, IVP
Consultation Procedure for Scan
- Details history taken and patients are direct to waiting area for scan.
- After scan patients are given relevant treatment and advice to come there OPD day. Treatment are given from scan room itself and also put admission if needed.
- High risk patients identified, labelled and give appropriate advice and necessary treatment at OPD/ inpatients.
- SCAN: Assistance ( Nursing officers)
- Follow-up for all scan patients.
- For all Cu-T insitu cases do scan for the postnatal period (3 times)
- Cu-T insitu checking
- USG guided Cu-T removal
- Trans vaginal scan (TVS) for early pregnancy, ectopic and other gynae patients.
- USG guided aspiration for pediatric and gynae cases (ectopic, ovarian cyst).
- Saline sonography, Bladder filling.
Procedure for Investigations
- Patients are given required investigations and are directed to the scan room, any urgent investigations patients are sent to lab and get report then from to scan room review the result and follow the result.
Procedure for Admission
- Patients needing admission either an emergency or elective are received by the nursing officer and directed to the admission block with patients attender and do the needful.
Procedure for Drug Dispensing
- Patients need only treatment on OPD basics are directed to the OPD pharmacy, Where drugs advised by doctors are dispensed.
X-Ray Unit
- For all patients from the hospital ie. OPD, inpatients , gynec, pediatric cases taken x ray from here.
- Abdomen x -ray with sound taken.
- HSG, IVP procedure done.
- Newly installed - computer Radiography.
HSG
- Patients come from gyn. OPD.
- Date given for HSG.
- Explain about the procedure collect the data of the patients.
- Advice preparation of patients.
- Procedure done on date.
- Couple counseling.
- Consent from the patient and husband.
- Allow one female attender.
- Assist the procedure
- After procedure, 1 hour observation
- HSG X – ray report checked.
- Advice the patient to come their OPD day and get report.
- Sent to OPD.
IVP
- Patients come from gyn. OPD and gyn. ward.
- Date given to the patient after checking the RP-II to level and BP.
- Counselling about the procedure.
- Date on procedure the patient is come with empty stomach.
- Procedure done and take time for 1 to 4 hours.
- IVP x-rays shown to radiologist and get report.
- After procedure plain water given patients.
- Check any allergy symptoms for contrast.
- Wait for 1 hour and then sent to patient ward.
- OPD patient advice to come and their OP day.
- Collect the IVP report and then OPD.
Mammographic Unit
- In Puducherry union territory only at our hospital, the mammographic machine is available.
- Referral form all our state Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, Yanam the mammogram is done for the patients.
- Mammogram - date given.
- Advice for preparation of procedure.
- Report given by CD, x-ray film from in-house.
